I was always really involved with technology when I was younger. I loved taking apart old stereos, TVs, surround sound systems – whatever didn’t work, or whatever I wanted to work in different ways, I would take them apart and put them back together. I loved learning about how everything works. And to this day, it’s still the same.
"Seneca appealed to me because I knew I would be learning from some of the most creative minds and people who are at the top of their game."
I chose Seneca’s Animation program because I believe that who you learn from makes a huge difference. I applied to Seneca’s Summer Institute program, and had the amazing opportunity to work on an animated film project by Seneca instructor and Oscar-winning director Chris Landreth. That experience gave me real insight into the creative process, and was the launching pad I needed for my career. And thanks to my experience at Seneca, not only did I gain the skills for a career in the world of animation, I was able to put those skills to work right after I graduated.
My path after Seneca has taken me in a number of directions, including exploring the world of visual effects. But I’ve come back to animation because that’s what I truly enjoy doing. Today I’m doing what I love. I’m working in an up-and-coming Toronto animation studio, where I’m involved in creating children’s animated TV programs. It’s gratifying to know that what I do is loved by kids all over.
"Seneca gave me the desire to never stop learning. I’m working in a great company now, alongside really smart people, and I’m eager to continue learning from them as much as I can."
